Implementation of Voluntary Salary Cuts at UoN

In a memo dated April 24 2020, the UoN Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama wrote to all staff and sought their consent for voluntary salary cut for the purpose of the families and individuals that have been adversely affected by the global pandemic Covid19. 

The move follows the President's example and directive to all public service workers. The President and his deputy pledged to take home 80% salary cut since the coronavirus pandemic hit the country to help the less fortunate in the country. 

Declaration of Income, Assets and Liabilities Nov 2017- October 2019

The University of Nairobi Staff have been notified of the declaration of assets exercise between November 2017- October 2019 as dictated by Public Officer’s Ethics Act 2003, the code of conduct for Public Universities and the University of Nairobi Code of Conduct and Staff.

All members of staff are requested to collect the form from their College registrars from Monday November 11, 2019 and return the duly completed form not later than November 29, 2019.

DVCHRA signs 2019/2020 Performance Contract

Deputy Vice Chancellor, Human Resource and Administration, (DVCHRA), Prof. Stephen Kiama signed the 2019/2020 Performance contract as DVCHRA and ag.  Deputy Vice Chancellor, Finance Planning and Development (DVCFPD).  Directors of departments under the two DVC offices also signed their PCs with him on Monday November 5, 2019.

Deal at Last 2017-2021 CBA Signed

The signing ceremony between Inter Public Universities Councils Consultative Forum (IPUCCF) of the Federation of Kenya Employers and the three staff Unions; Universities Academic Staff Union (UASU); Kenya Universities Staff Union(KUSU), and Kenya Union of Domestic, Hotels, Educational Institutions and Hospital(KUDHEIHA) Workers, was a culmination of intense negotiations between the parties. “This was a historic CBA that was signed without an industrial strike and within its cycle,” said Prof.

2nd Annual Research Week

The second edition of the University of Nairobi Research Week presents an exciting array of goodies to choose from.

These include 13 conferences covering across a broad array of disciplines and 2 workshops. Abstract submissions and registration are currently open for the Research Week which will be held from October 22-25, 2019.

In addition, the organizing committee driven by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Enterprise, Prof. Madara Ogot, is reaching out to sponsors and partners to support the Research Week.
